A Banana Plant in Kansas?

Thursday May 05, 2022 - Sunday May 08, 2022 Daylight Hours 1701 S. Homer, Robert Plaster Center, Pittsburg State University Campus, Pittsbu

IMPORTANT CHANGE: The address is incorrect in the printed guide. The greenhouse is located behind the Plaster Center at the east end. Park on the east end of the parking lot, walk a short distance north behind the Plaster Building and then east to the greenhouse. The door to the greenhouse is on the east end and will be open for visitors. Banana plants in Kansas? When your college mascot is a gorilla it stands to reason that a banana plant should be nearby. Enjoy a stroll through this beautiful campus to look for the trees. If the weather has been warm enough, the majority will be found in the older part of the campus on the "oval." On Friday, May 6 from 9am-4pm, the campus greenhouse will be open especially for BKRT visitors to see the thousands of plants, flowers and the banana plants. It's a sight to behold! (Note: we amended this entry from banana tree, as it's wrong to think of bananas as growing on trees. They are actually a plant!)
