From 20th,
4 miles north
on U.S. 69,
then 3½ miles
east on 600. When Annie’s
husband, coal miner Charley
Pichler, suffered a disabling
accident in Yale Mine No. 13
in 1933, she had to find work
to support their family. In 1934
Annie started selling fried chicken
out of her home, with side dishes
of German potato salad, German
coleslaw, a strip of green
pepper, and a slice of tomato.
That was the beginning of this
now-famous restaurant. It is
owned today by Annie’s grandchildren,
who are still serving
delicious fried chicken dinners.
Thu-Sat 4-8pm, Sun 11am-8pm.
