21st Century Bean Factory Tour. From Goodland, at the intersection of Commerce (Hwy. 27) and Business Hwy. 24, head west on Old Hwy. 24 for 8 1/2 miles. 21st Century Bean was formed in 1998 as a farmer-owned processing cooperative. They are a major provider of packaged dry beans for the USDA food assistance programs, delivering product to food banks throughout the United States. Call ahead to set up a time to visit between hours listed.

Buffalo Ranch Tour, see buffalo on their native prairie just north of Goodland. You'll also learn how the Homestead Ranch, located on the actual Great Western Cattle Trail, preserves this holistically-managed landscape. Call ahead to reserve your space.

Build Your Own Helicopter, High Plains Museum. Build your own helicopter then fly your own creation. The flight times will be noted and saved. At the end of the weekend times will compared and a champion will be named.

Exploring Sherman County Music Exhibit, High Plains Museum.

Fingerprinting and Jail Tours, Sherman County Bastille (Jail). Fingerprinting is a program for parents to protect their children. Parents keep the fingerprint and can provide them to law enforcement if and when necessary. Law enforcement does not retain the fingerprints. Each set of fingerprints requires about 15 minutes. Jail tours will be provided if available. On Saturday, additional hours in the evening are from 7-9 pm CT. 813 1/2 Broadway Ave.

Historic Theatre Tour, Sherman Theatre. Renovation uncovered four illustrious 1928 panels of the peacocks and roses design, and, by the same artist, an elaborate framed 1928 mural. (Movie theatre showtimes 7pm MT/ 8pm CT, Monday through Sunday.)

Kanorado Museum Tours. See an original coal shed wooden building and Rock Island railroad caboose. Learn about the town's history in this charming museum. After tour hours, call for appointment. Your hostess, Hazel Estes, says 'If the lights are on in the museum, come on in!'

Lawn Games, Mid-America Camp Inn. Relax by playing a lawn game! Set up one of the provided lawn games and put them away when done. Games will be sitting on the lawn in their own boxes.

Lemonade contest & lawn croquet at the historic Ennis-Handy House. Try the local's lemonade entries and vote for your favorite. Sponsored by the Sherman County Historical Society.

UPDATE: Due to potential severe weather, tours have been cancelled for Sunday and tours on Saturday are limited to two hours in the morning. Olde Westport Spice Factory Tours. See where this family-owned company makes and ships their special blend spices, seasoning and dry soups. They ship world-wide!

Open House at the Gulick House. The late 19th-century Gulick House was home to physician Dr. A.C. Gulick who practiced in Goodland for nearly 60 years. The house was restored to its original condition by current owner, Rod Cooper, and displays many of the family's personal and medical artifacts. A highlight is the home's beautiful parquet floors. It is not regularly open to the public and is a rare treat to see. Located at the corner of W. 11th and Grand Avenue.

Open Studio, Carnegie Arts Center. Bring your creative spirit and enjoy this all ages event. Children under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult. Open Studio is free, and most of the materials and tools are available. There is a small fee for painting pottery and for some canvases.

Precision Agriculture Technology Farm Tour, Northwest Tech College - Agriculture Dept. Innovative technology is rapidly changing the Kansas agriculture industry. Sherman County Speedway Races, Sherman County Speedway. Dirt track is 3/8 miles long. There are 6 classes of races, 5 IMCA which are for national points and local track points. Econo class is for local class standing and is for beginners. Cost is $10 for 13 and older, $5 for 12 and under. Hot lap begins at 5:30pm MT / 6:30pm CT

United Telephone Building Tours. The telephone building is currently being restored. This will be the first time tours will be offered. Sponsored by the Sherman County Historical Society.

Visit with Gary, Garrett Liquor and Laundry Center. Visiting with the locals is a good way to learn more about a town and appreciate its people and history. Gary is known as a 'true Sherman County treasure.' He's a former Rock Island Railroad worker and has a vast amount of knowledge about Sherman County, past and present! He likes to sit outside his store when the weather is nice and is looking forward to visitors during the BKRT. He has extra chairs in the back and will bring as many onto the sidewalk as needed. Check out the train track that hangs from the ceiling in the liquor store and the large collection of liquor bottle decanters.
